Criminal charges against KCUS management: Our patients learn test results through the media

(Patria) - The Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton adopted at today's emergency session the Proposal for the Budget Rebalance of ZDK for 2020, which provides additional financial resources in the amount of 7.7 million KM for combating and mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Mirza Ganić said that the Government reacted in a timely manner and initiated the procedure for drafting the budget rebalance, in order to allocate the necessary funds for healthcare, economy, agriculture, veteran categories and the police, and to stabilize the health and economic conditions in the canton, which have been disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Additional funds for healthcare will be allocated to the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica, which had already received 2.5 million KM, the General Hospital in Tešanj, and health centers in this canton.

However, the Civil Protection Headquarters of this canton has also announced criminal charges.

Namely, due to the test results of citizens of this canton being given to the media by the management of KCUS before the competent institutions in ZDK, the authorities are considering criminal charges.

Attention has been drawn to the fact that citizens learn about test results from the media, thereby losing trust in the canton's health institutions and causing confusion.

We remind you that earlier, the Board of Directors of the Association of BH Journalists publicly demanded from Sebija Izetbegović, director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, to enable journalists and all media equal access to information regarding the coronavirus epidemic in Sarajevo, its consequences for public health, and the measures taken by this health institution.

According to complaints from a number of journalists received on the Journalist Help Line, the Press Service of KCUS is unavailable to journalists and does not respond to inquiries from certain media outlets, while Director Izetbegović selects the media to which she will provide "exclusivity" and priority in obtaining information of public importance.
This is precisely where the dissatisfaction of ZDK lies, because their patients learn the test results from the media.
