Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovač denied that Croatia is blocking Serbia on its path to the EU, but says that Serbia cannot be a judge and police for war crimes. He stated that the country from which the plans for the wars of the nineties originated cannot be competent for war crimes cases in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, including Croatia, reports the Patria News Agency.
In an interview with the magazine "Jutarnji list", in response to the newspaper's statement that "Croatia's blockade of Serbia" is now being discussed, Kovač replied: "What blockade".
"This is about meeting the criteria in the 'chapter of all chapters', the one dedicated to justice and fundamental rights. Therefore, it is about the values that constitute the identity of our European family, including respect for the rule of law and human rights, including minority rights," he said.
Kovač emphasized that full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal is a criterion in the negotiations.
"It is also very clear that a country from which the plans for the wars of the 1990s originated cannot be a judge and police for war crimes for all countries of the former Yugoslavia - including Croatia. Imagine. It is absurd, indeed a historical perversion, and it hinders good neighborly cooperation," assessed Kovač.
