Kosovo became a member of the world football governing body FIFA with 141 votes for and 23 against, writes the BiH news agency Patria, it was decided at the 66th FIFA Congress. Besides Kosovo, Gibraltar was also admitted, writes Patria.
With this act, Kosovo has gained the right to participate in the 2018 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Russia.
About ten days ago, Kosovo was also admitted to UEFA.
Shocking reactions are coming from Serbia, which considers this decision "shameful" and a "disgrace". Social networks are flooded with comments, while some congratulate, others are furious.
