(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac will pay an official visit to Slovenia on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
In Ljubljana, Minister Košarac will meet in separate sessions with the Slovenian Minister of Economy, Tourism and Sport Matjaž Han and the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon.
On the same day, he will visit the Agency for Radioactive Waste Management in Ljubljana and tour the Central Radioactive Waste Storage Facility.
The delegation accompanying Minister Košarac during the visit to the Agency for Radioactive Waste Management will include the Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of Republika Srpska Bojan Vipotnik, and the Chairmen of the Legal and Expert Team for Trgovska Gora Željko Bogut and Emir Dizdarević.
Minister Košarac emphasized that the primary reason for the visit to Slovenia is to discuss the issue of building a repository for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at Trgovska Gora.
"Slovenia not only has experience and acquired knowledge, but also possesses and is currently further expanding its capacities for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. Therefore, the best solution would be for this waste to be disposed of at the location where it is generated in Slovenia, as stipulated by EU regulations and standards. In Slovenia, as an EU member state, we are looking for a partner in environmental protection, and we are prepared to offer them the signing of a memorandum of cooperation in this field," stated Minister Košarac.
