(Patria) - The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada has issued a reaction to the announcement that the HVO museum at the site of a camp for Bosniaks in Mostar will be financed by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
"Continuity of revision of historical, scientific, and judicial facts about the aggression of the Republic of Croatia against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), in addition to individual criminal responsibility, also determined the character of the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In five final judgments, the ICTY established an international conflict, meaning that Croatia committed aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almost forty judges determined that Croatia had overall control over Bosnian Croats in HRHB and HVO and that the Republic of Croatia also occupied part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was also determined that the Republic of Croatia, in addition to overall control, used its armed forces (HV, intelligence services, police) as well as other institutions, including diplomacy, in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Overall control included making all political, military, and other decisions, personnel appointments, logistical and financial operations, meaning Croatia managed political and military operations and processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina through HVO and HRHB.
In addition to answering the question about aggression, it must be stated that the ICTY established a joint criminal enterprise led by Franjo Tuđman, which is legally something entirely different from established aggression.
Serbian-Croatian policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has not moved from the one it pursued during the aggressive actions against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to data from the ICTY judgment, Heliodrom was established on September 3, 1992, by a decision of the Minister of Defense Bruno Stojić as a "central military prison for the area of Herceg-Bosna" in the former JNA barracks a few kilometers south of Mostar. At one time, up to six thousand people were imprisoned in this prison.
Systematic arrests of Bosniaks were carried out by the HVO from May to July 1993. Imprisoned were male civilians, "younger than 15 and older than 60," women, and children. Heliodrom was the scene of barbaric violence. ICTY judges concluded that members of the HVO Military Police, from May 1993 to April 1994, "regularly and severely beat prisoners at Heliodrom with various objects, sometimes for several hours, until the victim lost consciousness, insulted them, threatened them, and humiliated them.
We warn once again that the anti-Bosnian projects of the Republic of Croatia must be sanctioned because they represent an existential threat to the survival of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is high time to redefine Bosnia and Herzegovina's state policy towards the so-called Herceg-Bosna, in order to finally stop this anti-Bosnian project and send it into history. Herceg-Bosna created a hostile, anti-Bosnian, and anti-European idea in which citizens and peoples in and outside Bosnia and Herzegovina still live today.
Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should know that Croatia's criminal policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina is increasingly being revitalized and that they are ready to repeat the same crimes.
The anti-Bosnian policy advocated by opponents of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be rejected and defeated so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can continue its path towards Euro-Atlantic integration. The anti-Bosnian coalition must be fought with all democratic, especially lobbying, means, making it known that such an anti-civilization and anti-state policy must not be tolerated, it must be publicly rejected.
Truth and justice are the best defense against the anti-Bosnian actions of the Republic of Croatia and the best defense against the humiliation of the victims of aggression and genocide, states the IGK.
