Komšić in Ljubljana presents projects for bicycle path and Trebević cable car

Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić informed the participants of the Round Table held today as part of the two-day VI Ljubljana Forum about the current development projects of the City of Sarajevo. In his address, Mayor Komšić spoke about the project of building the first bicycle path in the area of the City of Sarajevo, and about the revitalization project of the Trebević cable car, it was announced from the City Administration, writes Patria.

- We have initiated the construction of a city bicycle path in accordance with European standards. This project addresses bicycle traffic in the city of Sarajevo for the first time. The first section has already been completed, specifically one-third of the future path, with a total length of 14 km - emphasized the Mayor.

Komšić stated that the City of Sarajevo is the holder of the Trebević Cable Car Revitalization Project.

- The City of Sarajevo has begun the renovation of the Trebević cable car, promoting this type of transport to the public. The Trebević cable car will be the most modern facility that Sarajevo will receive. It will consist of 33 cabins, each with 10 seats, with a capacity of 1,200 passengers per hour. Instead of the former 12 minutes, the new cable car will reach Trebević in 7 minutes and 15 seconds. Unlike the old one, the new cable car will not create noise, will use little energy, and will be environmentally friendly - Komšić emphasized, adding that with the construction of the cable car, Trebević, once a favorite picnic spot and a significant tourist and recreational center located in the immediate vicinity of Sarajevo, will come back to life.

Mayor Komšić is participating in the Forum at the invitation of the City of Ljubljana and the GoForeSight (GFS) Institute, along with representatives of cities, regions, countries, and institutions of the European Union, as well as businessmen and investors. Participants of the Ljubljana Forum will share their experiences in management and development visions over these two days on the topic of "The Future of Cities: Green Cities and Smart Infrastructure".
