Komšić: Dodik can do nothing, but Vučić's understanding of his wishes is disappointing

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The messages sent today by Mr. Dodik from Belgrade, which very clearly and openly state that the ultimate goal of such a policy is the breakup of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the creation of a Greater Serbia, unfortunately did not meet with any condemnation from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, but rather with tacit approval, said the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, who is on a working visit to the Vatican, commenting on today's meeting in Belgrade between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and representatives of the smaller BiH entity.

"We have long since ceased to be impressed by the phrases Mr. Vučić utters on such occasions, such as phrases about respecting territorial integrity, while at the same time Dodik is breathing down his neck and announcing new conflicts in these areas, because the path he mentions and wants to take is a path of conflict. It would be good if Mr. Vučić, who often says that preserving peace is most important, would finally say who is threatening that peace. Is it Dodik with this kind of policy who threatens it, or is Vučić merely restraining himself from rushing into conflict? It is clear to me who is not threatening it. The Bosnian side is not threatening it, which, even after everything, aggression and genocide, extended a hand, but apparently in vain, because we are extending it to the same policies in Serbia that wanted to reach not our hands but our heads, and the heads of all of us who love this country and want nothing more than for it to finally stop being interfered with," said Komšić.

As for Dodik himself, Komšić says, after reporting to Vučić and bringing himself down to the level of Andrija Mandić, he once again managed to utter two contradictory claims in the same sentence, that he wants both peace and the dissolution of the state.

"He must choose one of the two, although we know what he wants. It is clear that fear of his own moves has taken its toll, and now he is trying to hide his fear of statements he was not forced to make and with which he has not particularly impressed anyone, except perhaps Vučić. As we have told him before, he has neither the power nor the strength to realize any of his announcements. However, we will remember that his wishes met with understanding in Belgrade," concluded Komšić.
