Columns from Montenegrin towns heading to Podgorica: See how many of us there are

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Columns of cars from several towns, with Montenegrin flags, have set off towards Podgorica.

Citizens from all over Montenegro are coming to Podgorica to attend this evening's patriotic and civic rally, which will be held at 7 p.m. on Independence Square.

A group of Montenegrin patriotic organisations called on citizens to the rally, stating that these days in Montenegro the cheapest word is freedom, CdM reports.

“Freedom that brought us back to the nineties, freedom in outbursts of national and religious hatred, freedom of threats against those who do not march in the orthodox line! Freedom in which those who fly the flag of Montenegro have become targets for elimination,” they said in a statement today.

From these organisations, they stated that they cannot turn a blind eye and remain silent in the face of the awakening of clerical fascism and threats “to the survival of the only country we have.” They emphasised that they are not gathered by any party, faith, or nation, but by the need to raise their voice in defence of our only true sanctuary – an independent, civic, secular, multicultural, and anti-fascist Montenegro.

The group of former sovereignists “under the control of alienated and embittered tycoons to democratise the state in coalition with Chetnik warlords, promoters of clerical fascism, and proven haters of Montenegro,” they stated from these organisations.

“See how many of us there are who have remained faithful to Montenegro and listen to the messages of our love and devotion to our only sanctuary,” they concluded in the statement.
