Coalition Croatian Unity: Europeanization of Dayton

(Patria) - Wishing to inform the public about the guidelines of the Electoral Program presented to voters at pre-election rallies, the Coalition Croatian Unity announced that they are continuing with its presentation point by point, in which, they state, they offer concrete solutions to the most important issues from the political, social, and economic life of BiH, with the aim of the SURVIVAL and STAY of the Croatian people and all others in this country.

“Everyone agrees that the Dayton Peace Agreement stopped the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it has put all its peoples and citizens into a “straitjacket” with three bodies and two sleeves, and they are still struggling in it today, unable to break free from its grip. That is why we from the HZ Coalition are convinced that, in cooperation with the international community, we must work on the EUROPEANIZATION OF DAYTON, because the bad policies of the ruling elites have brought BiH to the bottom of the former Yugoslavia countries when it comes to Euro-Atlantic integrations, which everyone talks about, but very little concrete has been done. Let us recall how long it took BiH institutions to respond to the EU Questionnaire, and it is still not finished!
 
If the goal of BiH policy, and we have set it for ourselves, is the Europeanization of Dayton and a departure from the logic of Dayton towards the logic of Brussels, we are ready to work on it. Namely, from survival as a civilizational value, we should move towards a Euro-Atlantic future. The Europeanization of Dayton has been part of our program for ten years, and we believe that, within the framework of this Brussels logic, the biggest political challenges in BiH can be resolved, such as constitutional reform, changes to the Election Law, the implementation of Constitutional Court rulings, decision-making methods, and the representation of all peoples in BiH, as well as the elimination of all forms of discrimination.
 
How to achieve this? With the help of the EU, we will work on integrating this very important geostrategic area, which is of the greatest interest to the EU for the security of Europe as a whole. These are geopolitical reasons we have been waiting for a long time, as other actors – from Russia, Turkey, etc. – have become very active in this area. We have nothing against them, but we want to clearly state that the future of this country is the EU, cooperation with EU partners, and cooperation with the other two peoples and citizens in BiH. The fundamental prerequisite is the credible acceptance of the EU acquis communautaire and European values.
 
The REFORM OF THE CONSTITUTION AND ELECTION LEGISLATION is imposed as a link to this. Namely, Annex 4 of the Dayton Peace Agreement defines BiH as a state of three constituent peoples and other citizens, composed of two entities. Such a structure has proven insufficient to ensure full national equality and eliminate discrimination. It is extremely unfair, expensive, and inefficient, and a constant source of tension, injustice, blockades, and irresponsibility. The constitutional position of the Croatian people is not fundamentally equal (method of election, representation, and decision-making).
 
The task of the HZ Coalition is, in order to ensure full membership in the EU, through the necessary and inevitable process of constitutional changes, to ensure the real equality of the Croatian people with the other two, which implies the possibility of legitimate representation and the protection of vital national interests, as well as the administrative-territorial restructuring of BiH. This can only be achieved by harmonizing the Constitution and key laws with the legal standards of multinational, well-ordered European countries such as Belgium and Switzerland. This would finally resolve all ambiguities and misunderstandings in BiH, achieve full equality, and enable everyone to live a life worthy of a human being.
