Who Remembers Maksimir: Is Official Serbia Sending Poisonous Messages Through "Fans"?

A beautiful Sunday morning on May 13, 1990, was supposed to be a football celebration in the SFRY. Red Star arrived in Zagreb for what many called a friendly match, but the never-played derby against Dinamo turned into a battlefield from which, fortunately, everyone escaped alive, though we still wonder today how that was possible.

The Maksimir clash between Zvezda and Dinamo fans, Delije and "Bad Blue Boys," and later the police and Boys, is known and historically recognized as the initial spark for the beginning of a bloody war, writes Patria.

Comparing the situation then with what we see today, it is clear that politicians still have "their" killers among the fans, who are sending poisonous arrows towards others and the different.

Although Aleksandar Vučić, as well as Tomislav Nikolić, made it clear to Milorad Dodik that they did not support the referendum, no one has yet heard what was discussed behind closed doors. However, matches of Partizan and Red Star, and individuals within these fan groups (with exceptions), yesterday and today send a message reminiscent of those left behind in the 90s. Perhaps left behind, but never forgotten.

Thus, last night from the capital of the neighboring country of Serbia, Belgrade, Red Star fans raised a banner saying "The Drina is not a border, the referendum is the first stop"... and then today their fierce rivals, Partizan fans Grobari, sent a new message "No one can do anything to you, Republika Srpska"...

Social networks have heated up, true fans are distancing themselves from the mentioned messages, but those who sent them are not fans, they do not love sports... They are soldiers of Milošević's politics, inherited by the leaders of Serbia, who whisper to the radicals what they think but dare not say out loud...
