SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Cantonal Committee of SDA Sarajevo welcomes today's acquittal in the case against the former president of the SDA Sarajevo Cantonal Committee and high-ranking SDA BiH official Asim Sarajlić.
By deciding to withdraw from public and political life, Sarajlić demonstrated firm faith in his innocence and the highest degree of his civic and political responsibility.
"In a democratic system organized through the separation of powers, verdicts are not delivered by interest groups or political competitors, but by courts. Therefore, the damage inflicted on Sarajlić and his family in a staged political process must be compensated. The political developments in Sarajevo Canton, and the strong and concerted attempts to politically marginalize the largest political organization in the country, which represents the patriotic force of its most numerous people, may precisely lead to the constructors and instigators of the staged processes, public lynching, and unprecedented attacks on high-ranking members of the Party of Democratic Action," the SDA Sarajevo Cantonal Committee stated.
The Municipal Court in Sarajevo today acquitted Asim Sarajlić, Sabahudin Delalić, and Muhamed Šehović in a first-instance verdict, who were charged with giving gifts and other forms of benefit.
