Who invited Vučić to Sarajevo: The BiH Presidency or Čović?

At the session of the Presidency of BiH held on July 25, the stance of the three members Bakir Izetbegović, Dragan Čović, and Mladen Ivanić was agreed upon to invite the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić for an official visit. This would be his first visit since taking office as president, writes Patria agency.

However, it is strange how the information is being disseminated that Dragan Čović, the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, invited Vučić. He could not have done it alone, but he did it officially as the chairman on behalf of the Presidency of BiH.

Vučić told Serbian media that he is always available for talks in Sarajevo, as it is an opportunity to reaffirm the policy of peace and stability and good relations.

- For me, this is an opportunity to reaffirm the policy of peace and stability, good relations, because it seems to me that this is one of the things we must do in the best possible way to preserve stability and peace - said Vučić. The President of Serbia stated that all information about this visit will be known soon.

Given that the Presidency of BiH is a collective body consisting of three people and is responsible for conducting foreign policy, it is clear that official invitations and visits are agreed upon at sessions. Therefore, the need for each member of the Presidency to meet with Vučić individually or to invite him on their own is unclear.

At the beginning of August, Ivanić spoke with Vučić in Belgrade, who said after the meeting that "major and turbulent events are happening in the region, and it is very important that we exchange views and have some kind of common stance on this."

It would be interesting to know whether the Presidency of BiH truly had a common stance on these events before that, or if Ivanić went for consultations with the Serbian president.

Otherwise, Vučić's visit to Sarajevo is expected to take place in early autumn.
