
Chinese President Xi Jinping, ahead of his visit to Serbia, recalled the long-standing friendship between the two nations in an op-ed for the daily Politika, reports Tanjug, relayed by NAP.
- The Chinese and Serbian people have stood shoulder to shoulder for sixty years, nurturing mutual affection and timeless friendship.
Xi Jinping said he is visiting the Republic of Serbia at the invitation of President Tomislav Nikolić and is very pleased to visit "a beautiful country rich in folklore, a friendly Serbia, at a time when everything is covered in flowers".
- I expect to discuss our friendship with President Nikolić and other Serbian leaders, plan cooperation, think about the future, and jointly raise our strategic partnership to a new level.
The Chinese President also recalled World War II in the article, "when the Chinese people in the Far East and the Yugoslav people in Europe fought against fascism".
He also mentioned that well-known films such as "Walter Defends Sarajevo" and "The Bridge" should not be forgotten, as they boosted the patriotism of a large number of Chinese people.
