(Patria) - The joint session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Croatia offered nothing but the usual phrases about "improving bilateral relations".
No substantively important open issue, such as the ratification of the border agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina's access to the open sea, or the property of our companies in Croatia, was even touched upon, believes SDA representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Safet Kešo.
"Even worse than that, Croatia openly stated that they are not giving up on the disposal of nuclear waste at Trgovska Gora, thereby completely ignoring warnings and positions from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On top of that, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković insults the intelligence of both us and his own citizens by claiming that nuclear waste is practically harmless.
If it is true, as Plenković claims, that the nuclear waste planned to be deposited at Trgovska Gora is not dangerous, that someone can stand 365 days, 24 hours a day in front of the wall of that landfill and not receive any radiation, then why is there such a strong need to deposit that waste as far as possible from Croatian populated areas!?
Why then must that landfill be as far as possible from Banski dvori and Plenković's yard, right up to the borders (and precisely those with Bosnia and Herzegovina)? Why does Croatia 'have no other solution' except to bring that waste and deposit it right in front of our homes? Is that the 'improvement of bilateral relations' that Croatia talks about - asked Kešo.
He considers it particularly devastating that the issue of Trgovska Gora was not even planned as a topic of the joint session of the two countries' governments, and that it was only included in the agenda at the insistence of ministers Staša Košarac and Nenad Nešić.
"Unfortunately, all this time there was no reaction from the representatives of the 'troika' in the Council of Ministers, thereby showing either that they do not know how to protect the state interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or that they have been 'won over' from Croatia, as Croats once boasted.
In the name of what harmony in the government of the 'troika' coalition do they remain subserviently silent on this important issue, neglecting the health and survival of tens of thousands of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on their native hearths?
Perhaps its name deceived the ignorant, but Trgovska Gora has nothing and must have nothing to do with trading the interests of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is a story not only about the health and survival of our citizens but also about our own self-respect. If there is none, there will certainly be no respect from others towards us", Kešo concluded.
