Karup-Drusko: Vucic's policy is hypocritical, Covic should state whether he supports pro-Russian policy

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is a destabilizing factor in the region. He still does not have good relations with any of the surrounding countries, believes Dzenana Karup-Drusko, director of the organization Transitional Justice, Responsibility and Remembrance.

Commenting on the announcement of Vucic's visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of next month, Karup-Drusko told TV1's daily news that she does not expect any major changes after this visit, because, she added, Vucic's policy of "one step forward, two steps back" has been present for a long time, and it can be safely said that it is hypocritical.

- Vucic has not been on the political scene since yesterday, and his hypocritical policy has been present for a long time - said Karup-Drusko, adding that this can best be seen in the example of the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, when Vucic, together with the then-President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, blocked the resolution at the UN, with the help of Russia. Also, she added, Vucic has never acknowledged the genocide in Srebrenica, despite the rulings of the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

And Vucic's hypocritical policy, she further pointed out, is also reflected in the latest declaration between Serbia and Republika Srpska.

- After the meeting with Vucic, Dodik came out and said that it is a declaration on the cultural and territorial unity of Serbs - says Karup-Drusko, adding that regardless of what that declaration ultimately means, the messages sent are clear.

Commenting on the announcements by the president of the BiH entity Republika Srpska that he will organize a referendum in case BiH joins NATO, Karup-Drusko believes that the BiH judiciary has opened the door for anyone to organize a referendum, after no one was punished in the case of organizing an unconstitutional referendum in RS regarding the marking of the day of RS.

However, Karup-Drusko believes, the stance of Republika Srpska on NATO will ultimately depend on Serbia's stance, but not on what Dodik thinks.

When asked how she sees the relationship between Covic and Dodik, she stated that Dodik and Covic do not hide that they are acting together. After their meeting, Dodik decisively stated that HDZ will not support what SNSD does not support, and announced that these two parties are going to the upcoming elections together.

Karup-Drusko believes that it should be demanded that Covic now clearly state his position in the case of NATO and Dodik, given that Covic has been talking about BiH as a member of the EU and NATO for years, while Dodik's policy is anti-European and anti-NATO.
