Canada: Croatian President with a flag bearing a Ustaše coat of arms

Croatian media have been widely reporting that Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović is once again attracting attention. While in Canada, she was photographed at an event holding a flag with a Ustaše symbol. The photograph was published by university professor in Toronto Tihomir Janjiček, who stated that he had received the president's permission to publish the photo, reports Patria.

Janjiček stated that he congratulates the president on her "sincere Croatianness."

- This flag is my personal property and was purchased in Zagreb, at the "Nama" department store, at a time when it was the official state flag of the Republic of Croatia! Such a flag flies in front of every Croatian Catholic church in Canada and the USA, and is also found inside the churches. This flag unites all Croats, both those in Croatia, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and wherever Croats are found around the world.

There has been no clarification from the office of the Croatian president yet.
