What is the connection between Croatian and Bosnian Dubrovnik?

The mayors of Sarajevo and Dubrovnik, Ivo Komšić and Andro Vlahušić, together visited the remains of the medieval Bosnian town of Dubrovnik near Ilijaš today, writes NAP. Croatian Dubrovnik is still alive, a globally popular tourist destination, this Bosnian one is ruined, but it can be equally interesting.

It is assumed that Bosnian Dubrovnik was built in the twelfth century and that its last inhabitants left in the eighteenth century. There is not much evidence about all of this.

Monsignor Franjo Topić from Napredak and researcher Perica Mijatović were also in the company of the mayors.

- Dubrovnik chronicler Jakov Lukarević included the information that this town (Bosnian Dubrovnik) was founded by Dubrovnik merchants, when the Bosnian Ban Kulin gave them the right to exploit the mines of central Bosnia - said Mijatović.

It is important for both mayors, Komšić and Vlahušić, that the cooperation between Sarajevo and Dubrovnik be further strengthened, especially now that a clear connection between Croatian and Bosnian Dubrovnik has been discovered.

Bosnian Dubrovnik further interested researchers when a small team of several professors from the University of Sarajevo and several students from the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Philosophy found a well-preserved headless skeleton last year near the remains of the town in a tomb believed to belong to Mirko Radojević, the father of the great duke Batić.

Researcher Mijatović explained at the time that, besides Hrvoje Vukčić, Sandalj Hranić, and Pavao Radinović, Radojević was the fourth key figure among the nobility at the court of King Tvrtko I, one of the greatest Bosnian rulers, writes NAP.
