Jozo Barišić: Dragan Čović's policy is driving Croats crazy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

BiH, (Patria) - Vice-president of the Croatian Party of BiH Jozo Barišić called on the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović to be realistic, and also said that Čović should stop pretending to be a political victim and a Croatian messiah in the region, especially in Zagreb, and return to the reality of negotiations with Bosniak leaders and relax the tense relations between Croats and Bosniaks.

Barišić also appealed to the president of SDA, Bakir Izetbegović, not to be stubborn and to offer Croats a compromise at the negotiating table.

“All quarrels and conflicts are reflected on the backs of mixed and impoverished peoples, and the returnee population suffers the most. The Election Law is definitely a sign of powerlessness and one of Dragan Čović's numerous unfulfilled promises,” said Barišić. He called the president of HDZ BiH a self-proclaimed Croatian leader. He believes that Dragan Čović's policy, which he called manipulation and “driving Croats crazy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia,” is short-lived.

Barišić believes that the Election Law cannot be changed only in the Federation, because it would aim to allow only Čović to be re-elected to the Presidency of BiH.

Barišić sharply criticized Čović and assessed that “given how the president of HDZ BiH behaves, how often he stays in Croatia, and what kind of morbid campaign he is conducting,” it would not surprise him if one day Čović were not a candidate for the president of Croatia. Barišić called Čović a narcissistic political egomaniac and a puppet of Belgrade, and an extended hand of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

The Croatian Party of BiH called on “all progressive political forces in RS and in the whole of BiH for compromise and respect for human rights and brave fulfillment of European standards so that this plundered country can join the EU even before 2025.
