Josipović: HDZ turns a blind eye to Ustaše-philia in Croatia

Former Croatian President Ivo Josipović believes that HDZ "turns a blind eye to Ustaše-philia", and that leading politicians in Croatia and some media have a complex about Serbia, reports Patria.

In addition, he states that politicians in Croatia are afraid to enter into open dialogue and seek the best solution for the two countries.

"They are burdened by the fear that cooperation with Serbia, even serious talks about the numerous interstate problems we have, will bring them negative points and the label of pro-Serbian and pro-Yugoslav policy. They are afraid to enter into open dialogue and seek the best solutions for both countries," Josipović said in an interview for "Politika."

Josipović believes that a parallel to this exists in Serbia as well, which is reflected, as he says, in extremely aggressive rhetoric, which he assesses as "on the verge of civil decency."

According to him, the cause of the "never worse" relations between Croatia and Serbia is the need for leading politicians to build their success on conflict and antagonism, and the problems between the two countries are, he assesses, such that they cannot be solved by interstate commissions but only by contacts and agreements at the highest level.
