Josipović: BiH is Croatia's most important neighbor

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Former President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović stated for Face TV that Croatia has moved far to the right, not only in state institutions but also as a society, and that it is time for the left to strengthen in that country.

Josipović said that in this context he will work on uniting the left, and one of those steps will be the unification of his party Naprijed Hrvatska with the SDP, leaving open the possibility that he will be one of the candidates in the next presidential elections in Croatia.

Speaking about Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josipović said that BiH is the most important neighbor for him.

“We are connected by many things. Thousands of kilometers of border, which I wish would divide us as little as possible,” said the former Croatian president.

“My goal was to improve relations with neighbors. I wanted to de-monopolize Croathood. I think the level of good relations has unfortunately dropped significantly during the mandates of this Government and President Grabar-Kitarović. They lack sensitivity for these relations,” emphasized Josipović, adding that former Serbian President Boris Tadić, whom he described as a pro-European politician who understood where these regions could go, also worked on calming relations in the region.
