(Patria) - Jelena Jerinić, a representative of the opposition green-left parliamentary club NDB, asked at the beginning of the session of the Assembly of Serbia whether Prime Minister Ana Brnabić still holds the official policy of the Serbian government that officials should not be in Srebrenica until the perpetrator of the attack on Aleksandar Vučić is found.
“I do not justify that attack, but is it possible that you equate a pair of broken glasses with the murder of 8,000 people and the expulsion of 20,000 people on this day in Srebrenica?”, Jerinić asked.
She also asked what such a policy specifically achieves and “what is achieved when we say that it was just an ordinary war crime, but we deny that it was genocide”.
“The truth is that denying genocide does no good even to the Serbian victims, who are numerous and painful. There is no competition in the number of war crimes; every victim is a lot. Acknowledging the genocide allows us to move forward,” said Jerinić.
During her speech, ruling party deputies protested, heckled, and loudly shouted: “Shame on you,” reports Danas.
