Janša begins negotiations on forming new Slovenian government

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Opposition leader in Slovenia and former Prime Minister Janez Janša on Friday began closed-door negotiations with parties that might be willing to form a new government to succeed the government of Marjan Šarec.

The opposition's goal is for this to happen without new elections.

President of the Party of Modern Centre (SMC) Zdravko Počivalšek and the new president of the Democratic Party of Pensioners (DESUS) Aleksandra Vodopivec attended the talks, after Šarec's government resigned earlier last week.

According to assessments by Slovenian media, no significant progress was made, and they stated that talks will continue next week.

Janša called on Twitter for a calming of the heated atmosphere while negotiations are underway.
