Politicians from Serbia's abuse of victims and genocide

The Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, a memorial and cemetery for the victims of the 1995 genocide, is a state institution. Its maintenance, holding funerals, and commemorating the genocide anniversaries are financed from the state budget.

The Memorial Center is secured by members of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Not only on July 11, when the commemoration and anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica are organized, but throughout the entire year.

Since everything is under state jurisdiction, and thanks to the decisions of several former High Representatives, and when the Memorial Center is practically extraterritorial within the smaller BiH entity, why is the entire protocol and organization not under the jurisdiction of the state, i.e., the Presidency and the Council of Ministers of BiH?

Now, before each commemoration and funeral, an ad hoc body is formed, i.e., an Organizing Committee, which includes representatives of several state ministries, the Memorial Center, and the Mothers of Srebrenica, and is automatically chaired by the Mayor of the Municipality of Srebrenica.

If this part of the activities were also raised to the state level, numerous inappropriate reactions would certainly be avoided, which, both last year and this year, push the genocide and victims into the background, and exclusively politicians from Serbia and their "support" from BiH to the forefront.

The genocide in Srebrenica, for which there are final verdicts from The Hague, along with those from domestic courts, is not a crime of a local nature, nor are the verdicts of a local nature.

The genocide in Srebrenica is a crime of global proportions. Verdicts were handed down by a court established by the United Nations. Resolutions condemning and further confirming the Srebrenica genocide have been adopted from the US Congress to the European Parliament.

Srebrenica, Potočari, and genocide are a matter of ethics, not politics.

Srebrenica, Potočari, and genocide are a stain on the conscience of humanity and not a target for politicians to abuse victims and their family members who, even today, 21 years later, are searching for the bones of their sons, brothers, husbands, and fathers.

If the BiH Presidency, or its Bosniak member, were at the head of the Organizing Committee, if the entire protocol were under state jurisdiction, along with, of course, the Mothers of Srebrenica who must be members, it would not happen that the victims' decision that those who deny genocide have no place in Potočari is used to gain cheap political points.

Just as Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić did last year, he is drawing attention to himself again this year. July 11 is overshadowed, and he is the one who "offers a hand of reconciliation." What humiliation for the victims, what mockery of the victims, what derision of the United Nations court, of Europe....

Haven't the victims offered a hand of reconciliation enough all these years?!

Haven't the mothers of Srebrenica, with their trembling hands and hearts heavy with pain, pinned the Srebrenica flower on his lapel last year, even though they knew that before them stood a person who, just ten years ago, threatened to kill 100 Muslims for one killed Serb and who had just before used all the political capacity of his position to thwart the adoption of the Resolution on Genocide in the UN Security Council?

The hearts of the mothers of Srebrenica endured all of that, they even protected him with their bodies, but even that was not enough, so this year Vučić and his team, with helpers from BiH, decided that he should be the "victim" and that the focus should be on him!

When will the Bosniak leaders, who are most responsible for Srebrenica today, finally understand that Vučić and his people are now merely implementing parts of the Memorandum of the infamous Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, better known as SANU II:

- To diminish Serbia's responsibility for committed crimes and destruction, and to place it on an equal footing with neighboring countries through indictments, warrants, and fabricated court proceedings against citizens of BiH, Croatia, and Kosovo;

- Through penitential actions, to bring Serbia into an equal position with the suffering and damaged countries in the region.

Do I need to explain further that this part of SANU II is precisely what is happening?! A word to the wise is sufficient!

Does anyone wonder how it is that the news that the Organizing Committee made a joint decision in early June that those who deny genocide have no place in Potočari at the commemoration was published by all media, and no one reacted.

And then suddenly (or is it?), in some Serbian tabloids controlled by Vučić, just ten days before the funeral and burial of another 127 victims, the thesis appeared, which no one had uttered, let alone written, that "the state leadership of Serbia is unwelcome in Potočari" and that Ćamil Duraković did it!?

Then, in the end, the head of BiH diplomacy, Igor Crnadak, delivers a slap. He is supposedly a minister of BiH, not Serbia. He abuses his position and the institution he heads and issues a ban on employees of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs participating in the organization of the July 11 commemoration, because the decisions of the Organizing Committee have violated good neighborly relations with Serbia. Crnadak has placed the state Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH in the service of protecting genocide deniers, thereby continuing the genocide from 1995.

Therefore, the state must, in its entirety and 100 percent, and especially the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, take over the leadership of the organizing committee, so that Srebrenica, Potočari, and genocide finally receive the place they deserve.

Otherwise, political vultures will continue to abuse this global crime and its victims, and the followers of Dobrica Ćosić will implement his seminal life's work, the SANU II Memorandum, which Minister Crnadak is currently working on.
