Zagreb's nightclub 'Mint' burns down

(Patria) - Under still unexplained circumstances, a fire broke out last night in the well-known Zagreb nightclub "Mint" on Florijan Andrašec Street in Trešnjevka.

The report of the fire, which destroyed a large part of the inventory, was received by Zagreb firefighters and police around 3 AM.

"A large flame is visible near Cibona. I don't know the exact address," was approximately the report a few minutes after three in the morning.

Zagreb firefighters immediately responded to the intervention and located the exact place of the fire at 3:14 AM. Smoke and fire were already heavily engulfing several rooms of the club.

According to initial information from the scene, the fire affected a room with an area of 20x15 meters. Other rooms in the building were filled with smoke, however, they were locked, as were those on the upper floor, so the fire did not spread.

A total of 14 firefighters on the ground thoroughly searched the facility after the fire was localized, given that the walls of "Mint" are lined with wood, sponge, and fabric. The intervention lasted approximately until five o'clock.

Incidentally, the club "Mint" is full of video surveillance cameras, both inside and outside, so it is not out of the question that they will be of great help to the police in resolving the case.

The damage to the facility has not yet been determined, but it is estimated to be significant.

The club owned by entrepreneur Kristijan Babić opened at the end of 2019 and was a popular Zagreb destination for nightlife, known for its cabaret evenings.

Incidentally, "Mint" was supposed to reopen its doors at the end of September, after the summer break, reports Jutarnji.hr.
