ELECTIONS IN SLOVENIA Turnout higher than in the first round, 14.66 percent of voters cast ballots by 11 AM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Polling stations across Slovenia opened their doors at 7 AM. After today's second round of presidential elections, it will be known who will succeed the current president Borut Pahor in the next five-year term at the country's helm. Voters can cast their ballots for one of the candidates, Anže Logar or Nataša Pirc Musar, until 7 PM, and electoral silence will prevail until the end of voting.

According to the State Election Commission, 248,333 voters had cast their ballots by 11 AM, which is 14.66 percent of eligible voters. The highest turnout was in BJ Kranj, at 15.9%, and the lowest in BJ Ptuj, at 13.45%, writes Delo.

For comparison: in the first round of presidential elections, voter turnout by 11 AM was 13.63 percent, and in the 2017 presidential elections, 12.31 percent of voters cast ballots by 11 AM in the second round.

Eligible voters, of which there are slightly less than 1.7 million in these elections, can cast their vote at one of the 3,117 polling stations. There are 2,999 regular polling stations, 88 polling stations for voting outside the place of residence, so-called omnia polling stations, and 30 polling stations at diplomatic-consular missions abroad.

The duty service of the Ministry of the Interior received 47 reports of alleged violations from the start of the election silence, which began after the presidential election campaign on Friday at midnight, until 10 AM today. The Inspectorate of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia is handling 24 cases in which there is suspicion of violation of election silence.
