30,000 people emigrated from Croatia in just one year

On the occasion of the International Migrants Day, which was marked yesterday, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics published data on population migration for 2015.

Index.hr writes that last year, slightly less than 30,000 people emigrated from Croatia abroad, while just over 11,000 people immigrated to Croatia, and the net migration balance with foreign countries was negative, amounting to -17,945. The migration balance was last positive in 2008, when it was 7,053, and just a year later it was -1,472. The largest jump in the migration balance among individual years was recorded in 2014, when the difference between the number of immigrants and emigrants more than doubled compared to the previous year.

In 2015, most people emigrated to Germany, 41.6 percent of them, and that country was also a popular destination in 2014, when 38.2 percent of people emigrated there.
