Ivanić meets with Vučić: Good relations between Serbs and Bosniaks are key to regional stability

Member of the BiH Presidency Mladen Ivanić met today in Belgrade with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, reports Patria News Agency.

After the meeting, Ivanić and Vučić agreed that good relations between Serbs and Bosniaks are key to stability in the region, as well as to the overall economic progress of the Western Balkans.

- Major and turbulent events are happening in the region, and it is very important that we exchange views and have some kind of common stance on this – Ivanić told reporters in Belgrade.

Ivanić also said that former Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić joined the conversation between him and Vučić.

- We also talked about the general position of the Serb people in the region. I am glad that tomorrow there will be a meeting to mark the suffering in "Oluja" (Storm) where a larger number of Serb leaders from the region will gather – emphasized the member of the BiH Presidency.

Ivanić also commented on media reports about the German initiative to amend the Constitution and Election Law of BiH.

- The German initiative essentially boils down to the opposite, which is not to open topics on which there is no agreement. Germany is exclusively interested in economic reforms and not in major topics that are known in advance to cause conflicts – Ivanić stated.

Ivanić emphasized that Serbs advocate for Republika Srpska, Bosniaks for BiH without entities, and Croats for a third entity, and that it is very difficult to reach a common goal.

Ivanić said that the main reasons for BiH not meeting the conditions for its European path are mutual outmaneuvering between different levels of government and their bickering over who is more important.

- All levels of government stated in February that they had completed the answers to the Questionnaire, and now it is August, and we still haven't completed the Questionnaire – said Ivanić, adding that this is the best example of mutual competition between different levels of government.

Ivanić added that this competition will not bring good to anyone.
