Šešelj burned EU and NATO flags in front of Belgrade Court

Leader of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and Hague indictee Vojislav Šešelj came in front of the Special Court building in Belgrade, although his hearing was postponed, and in the presence of supporters burned the flags of the EU and NATO, reports the Patria News Agency.

Šešelj was supposed to be heard today regarding the request of the Hague Tribunal for his extradition to that institution, where on March 31, a first-instance verdict is to be pronounced against him on the charges of the Hague prosecutor, but the Higher Court announced that the hearing was canceled for procedural reasons.

Before that, Šešelj told reporters that the hearing was canceled, as he was informed, because the trial chamber of the International Tribunal had not provided an answer to Serbia's request regarding certain procedural issues.

The leader of the radicals noted that he eagerly awaits the hearing to be rescheduled "to explain to them for what legal reasons he cannot be extradited to the Hague Tribunal".

He believes that Serbia, as he said, is no longer independent after signing the agreement with NATO, and that is why he burned the flags of the EU and NATO in protest.

An increased police presence was also noticeable in front of the Court building, reports B92.
