Incidents during SDP campaign: Man called Milanović a "worthless bunch" and then physically attacked him

A series of incidents marked the SDP coalition's campaign in Croatia yesterday. After the former SDP Minister of Education Željko Jovanović was attacked in Rijeka in the morning, and the mayor of Rijeka, Vojko Obersnel, lunged at a member of the Resistance Movement after provocations and snatched her umbrella, a physical assault on SDP leader Zoran Milanović also occurred in the afternoon, reports the Patria News Agency.

Sources close to the SDP have expressed surprise at the incidents in this electoral district, where they have not encountered similar problems before, and do not rule out intentional incitement of people and provocations orchestrated by political rivals.

The incident occurred in Matulji, where the SDP leadership was having coffee with citizens. A man threw the words "worthless bunch" at Milanović and then physically lunged at him. The confrontation was prevented by Milanović's security personnel, and the attacker was detained for disturbing public order and peace, writes Index.
