Reactions are not subsiding after the visit of the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Božo Petrov and Miro Kovač to Stolac.
The Croatian delegation arrived in this BiH town outside of the official protocol, after local elections in Stolac were interrupted on October 2nd due to an incident at one polling station. The "Initiative for Stolac" accused the Municipal Organization of HDZ Stolac of election theft.
- By coming, we are showing that we care about Croats in BiH, that we will protect them without interfering in the political processes within BiH – Minister Kovač told reporters after a meeting with the mayor of this municipality, Stjepan Bošković.
The arrival of a high-level delegation from Zagreb to Stolac and their support for only the Croatian people has been assessed by numerous analysts as direct interference by official Zagreb in the political situation in BiH.
- Without entering into the merits of the problem in Stolac or who is to blame for the problems in that town, I feel the need to react to this strange wording, which we often hear from Belgrade as well. Namely, neighboring countries are not just interfering, but BiH is one of their key foreign policy priorities. I do not dispute the need and desire of both countries to take care of "their own" in BiH, but why then, I repeat again, this essential need to emphasize that Zagreb and Belgrade will not interfere in the internal affairs of BiH – says political analyst Adnan Huskić.
- How does he (Kovač, author's note) intend not to interfere, while speaking from Stolac – adds Huskić, writes NAP.
