HS BiH: HDZ BiH's insistence on using the 2013 census is an admission of ethnic cleansing

The Croatian Party of BiH believes that HDZ BiH, with unacceptable destructions, maximalist positions, and a distorted interpretation of the Constitutional Court of BiH's decision in the Ljubić case, has led itself into a dead-end situation and definitively entered into an unnecessary conflict with the international community, it was announced today from this party, reports Patria News Agency. 

- For the Croatian Party of BiH, as well as for the Croat people as a whole, the refusal of HDZ BiH to use the 1991 population census for the composition of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament is particularly harmful and unacceptable. The claim from that party that the 1991 census prevents the mechanism of so-called legitimate election or representation is a complete untruth and a great deception.

On the contrary, if the 2013 census were used to calculate the number of delegates in the federal House of Peoples, it would mean that HDZ BiH unilaterally annuls Annex 7 of the BiH Constitution, meaning that for that party, the return of refugees is a finished story, thereby essentially admitting all the consequences of ethnic cleansing - the statement reads. 

The Croatian Party most sharply condemns these positions and calls on the leader of HDZ BiH to stop behaving ignorantly and to personally return to negotiations, rather than sending his associates, which is only a sign that Dragan Čović and his party do not want a compromise on the amendments to the Election Law.

- The Croatian Party of BiH absolutely supports the positions of all parties that involve calculating the number of delegates in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament based on the 1991 population census. In this regard, we propose increasing the number of delegates in the House of Peoples and electing 19 delegates in each national club in the future. We demand that HDZ BiH, as negotiators, represent the position that two delegates be elected from Posavina and Livno cantons, instead of one as it was until now. This would contribute to strengthening Croatian national interests and satisfying European democratic values and respect for human rights, i.e., positive discrimination - conclude the Croatian Party of BiH.
