Snow fell relentlessly yesterday across a large area of the country, so the snow cover in some Croatian cities reached impressive heights, reports the Patria news agency.
For example, in Slunj, just over half a meter of snow fell, 55 centimeters, with only Zavižan having more - 56 centimeters. Snow also blanketed Hrvatska Kostajnica, where it is now 53 centimeters high.
In Ogulin, 48 centimeters of snow fell, in Lipko 45, in Sisak 42, as well as in Delnice. Karlovac this morning measures a snow cover of 38 centimeters. Nearby are Nova Gradiška, Gospić, Kutina and Sljeme. In Zagreb, 23 centimeters of snow were measured this morning.
Snow will weaken today, according to forecasts from the State Hydrometeorological Institute, falling in the morning and forenoon in Slavonia, while morning fog will prevail in other inland areas.
Meteoalarm has issued a yellow warning for most of Croatia due to icy roads caused by low temperatures. A special warning applies to the Gospić, Karlovac, Osijek and Zagreb areas. The Dubrovnik and Split areas could be hit by a very strong north and northwest wind with storm gusts, reports Index.
