Croatian Army Ready to Deploy to Border Due to Migrants

(Patria) - The new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, Vice Admiral Robert Hranj, said yesterday, regarding the possible deployment of the Croatian Army to the border due to the migrant crisis, that the army is ready to assist the police and can provide logistical support.

In accordance with current legal provisions, the Croatian Army can provide extensive logistical support - transport, medical evacuation, camp construction, medical, veterinary, and engineering support, he said while a guest on HTV's 'Dnevnik'.

"The army has operational plans and specifically organized forces that would be activated in border areas, east, center, north, sea, and air, by decision. In the first phase, 2,500 soldiers will be ready, and more can be mobilized depending on the decision of political structures," emphasized Vice Admiral Hranj, who previously took office at a ceremony at the Ministry of Defense.
