Croatian Party of BiH proposes that the Federation moves toward NATO without Republika Srpska

(Patria) - With the aim of ending a decade-long saga, the Croatian Party of BiH proposed on Monday that the Federation of BiH accept the MAP and begin all the mentioned reforms, while Republika Srpska declares military neutrality and waits for some new times and new leaders to implement these reforms.

“From the very beginning, back in 2009, when BiH submitted a request to activate the MAP, obstructions by certain politicians in the RS entity began, especially Mr. Dodik, who all this time has been invoking and advocating for the military neutrality of BiH. We can understand the wishes, interests or fears of one side, but equally they need to understand our needs and desire for BiH to move forward,” the HS BiH stated.

The Membership Action Plan (MAP) is a program of assistance and support for countries preparing for NATO membership. The preparations and reforms include five areas: political and economic, defense and military, financial, and security-legal issues. Opening the MAP does not automatically mean entry into NATO, but rather a series of measures and procedures that should help the country, through necessary reforms, get closer to the NATO alliance.

The President of SNSD and Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, has so far blocked Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to NATO.
