Croatia Assumes Presidency of the European Union

(Patria) - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen opened the meeting of the Government and the EC today at the National and University Library in Zagreb.

The new European leader stated on this occasion that the success of the Croatian presidency will also determine the beginning of the work of the new Commission.

"The first Croatian presidency is a crucial moment, and it is also the beginning of our mandate. Your success will define our success. I have carefully listened to the priorities and I can say that your priorities are also ours," said Von der Leyen at the beginning of the meeting of the European Commission's College and Croatian ministers, which formally marked the beginning of Croatia's presidency of the European Union in the first half of this year.

Prime Minister Plenković, at the beginning of the session, after a video was shown connecting Croatian and European themes, presented four priority areas: A developing Europe; A connected Europe; A protective Europe; and An influential Europe.

He emphasized that the European Commission will have a reliable partner in the Government of Croatia.
