(Patria) - Karlovac police arrested a 20-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina who was driving a van full of migrants.
In addition to migrant smuggling, he will also be prosecuted for traffic violations because he was driving before passing his driving test and obtaining a license.
The police announced that last night near Cetingrad, they noticed two vans entering Croatia without their lights on, and in one of them, a 20-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina was found smuggling ten migrants.
The Karlovac Police Department states that the vans stopped shortly after crossing the border when the police officers headed towards them, and the 20-year-old driver was found in the BiH-registered vehicle with ten migrants.
The second van, however, had no license plates and the police found no one in it because the driver and eight or nine migrants had left.
The young driver was arrested, handed over to the detention supervisor, and a criminal complaint was filed against him. He will also be prosecuted for traffic violations, including driving before passing his driving test.
The police are still searching for the second driver, and all migrants have expressed their intention to apply for asylum.
