Croatian Civic Initiative calls for voting for Đukanović: Continue Montenegro's pro-Western path

(Patria) - The Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) will support the current head of state Milo Đukanović in the presidential elections in Montenegro on March 19, the party announced.

HGI called on voters and sympathizers to vote for Đukanović so that Montenegro can continue its pro-Western path.

"Since its founding in 2002, HGI has fought without calculation for an independent Montenegro, a member of the NATO alliance and the European Union. Đukanović successfully led all these processes that positioned Montenegro in the Western civilizational circle, which are also the programmatic goals of HGI. We are witnesses that society and the state have regressed since the last parliamentary elections, and the European perspective has been seriously threatened," the statement reads.

Along with Đukanović, the candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the president of the New Serbian Democracy Andrija Mandić, the deputy president of the Europe Now Movement Jakov Milatović, and the leader of the Democrats Aleksa Bečić, the representative of the Social Democratic Party Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, the leader of United Montenegro Goran Danilović, and influencer Jovan Radulović are running in the elections.

There are 542,154 registered voters, and if no candidate receives more than half of the votes in the first round, a second round will be held on April 2.
