Croatian diaspora already celebrating the release of Dario Kordić, the executioner from Ahmići

Dario Kordić, whom the Hague war crimes tribunal sentenced to 25 years in prison, could be released in June due to good behavior in the prison in Graz (Austria), as two-thirds of his sentence will then expire! As the Patria news agency learns, celebrations by various Croatian associations celebrating Kordić's possible release have begun across Europe!

The latest such celebration took place recently in the Austrian town of Liezen, where about 50 Croats gathered and celebrated all night, as they said, the "release of their hero."

We remind that in Ahmići on April 16, 1993, 116 civilians were killed. Special purpose units of the Croatian Defence Council, the Jokers and Maturice, carried out an attack on the village of Ahmići. They killed, burned, and massacred 116 civilians, most of whom were children, women, and the elderly. The operation codenamed "48 hours of ash and smoke" also claimed the life of an 81-year-old woman, while the youngest victim was a baby only three months old.

Elvedin Kermo from the Association of Citizens Victims of War 92-95 "April 16" Ahmići says it is sad that Kordić might see the light of day and that they consider this a reward for the crimes committed.

- Of the 25 years, he serves two-thirds and goes home. What is saddest is that he is now a hero for the Croatian people who killed hundreds of Bosniaks in the Lašva Valley. This is a humiliation for the victims - said Kermo.

He further notes that all families of the killed and surviving victims will have their wounds reopened after Kordić is released.

- What kind of justice is this. Kordić planned the crime in Ahmići. In one day, they killed 116 people - emphasized Kermo.

Also, with regret, Kermo states that protest letters "obviously don't hold water."

- There is no justice in this world. The masterminds are leaving prison one by one. Only Cicko, our neighbor, remains in prison, who is the perpetrator. And when he serves two-thirds, they will release him too, and then for the monstrous crimes in Ahmići, no one will be in prison anymore. And Josipović, who is also a personal perpetrator, has left prison and lives at his home. So, no more perpetrators have been punished - added Kermo.
