HDZ attacks HRT over Milanović: You are at the service of only one political party

HDZ addressed the media early this morning with a statement to express their outrage over the fact that HRT did not publish their rebuttal to Zoran Milanović's accusations, who blamed them for pressuring the media and endangering freedom of expression. HDZ claims - "HRT is at the service of only one political party", reports the Patria News Agency.

"After Zoran Milanović accused HDZ of pressuring the media and endangering freedom of expression on Croatian Television on Sunday, February 14, we responded with a statement.

In accordance with democratic practice, the statement was published by all relevant portals and the press, but HTV refused to publish it. Instead of serving everyone and being a service to all social interest groups, Croatian Radio Television decided to be at the service of only one political party. While Zoran Milanović's statement is broadcast on HRT's central news programs with sound and image, there is no room in the program for the response sent by HDZ.

HDZ is the largest party in Croatia, and therefore expresses the political interests of the majority of Croatian citizens. HDZ members pay the TV subscription fee like all other citizens, so we see no reason why HRT editors did not publish our statement, the sole purpose of which was to deny Milanović's accusations and present the truth. If they considered that something in it

was not factually based, they could have published it and then commented on everything they considered controversial. However, with this censorship, their bias and unprofessionalism have gone so far as to completely expose their favoritism towards one political option, the same one they faithfully served for the past four years. This is the political option that, by changing the HRT law, brought the current leadership to their positions and enabled them to dismiss 40 editors with dissenting opinions in a Stalinist purge in just 5 days," stated HDZ, writes Index.
