HDZ BiH holds emergency session on pandemic in BiH and earthquake in Zagreb

(Patria) - The Presidency of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina held an emergency video session on March 23, 2020, where the main topics were the situation and measures against the coronavirus pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the devastating earthquakes in the City of Zagreb.

They announced a permanent session during the epidemic and issued today's conclusions.

"The Presidency did not conclude the session at today's meeting, and the session will be ongoing during the crisis. At the emergency video session, the Presidency of HDZ BiH adopted the following conclusions.

The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1. Calls on the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina to behave responsibly in accordance with the prescribed instructions of competent authorities and trained experts who are actively acting within their jurisdictions, with the aim of protecting collective and individual health and relieving the healthcare system of BiH, which is facing an increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus;

2. Urges the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain calm, show solidarity and unity, and calls for information primarily from official municipal, city, cantonal, entity and state sources;

3. Demands the earliest possible adoption of measures to aid the economy and stimulate the economy, protect companies and workers, and measures in the banking sector;

4. Welcomes the dedicated and selfless work of medical staff throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina who, in these difficult moments for our homeland, are selflessly working to protect the health of residents and control the spread of coronavirus;

5. Particularly emphasizes the efforts of media workers who, through objective, official and timely information, contribute to informing the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina and appeal for calm and personal responsibility;

6. Condemns inappropriate attempts at political score-settling through the public activities of certain political parties which, at a time of serious challenge facing our society, try to fabricate political crises that hinder a joint institutional response. Also, calls on all political parties in BiH as well as certain high-ranking political officials not to use the space for personal political gain in these difficult times of fighting the coronavirus;

7. Reaffirms the overall institutional and capacity engagement of HDZ BiH officials who, at all levels of government and in cooperation with international partners, are trying to find necessary solutions and assistance for successfully dealing with the coronavirus pandemic;

8. Calls on, first of all, the European Union, as the most prominent partner and friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also all other countries, friends of our homeland, to provide the necessary aid, medical supplies and ensure a transport corridor for the unhindered delivery of food and medicine for the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina," they stated.

At the emergency video session, the Presidency of HDZ BiH separately considered the earthquakes in the neighboring Republic of Croatia, Zagreb, and adopted the following conclusions.

"The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1. Expresses sympathy with the Croatian people and citizens of the City of Zagreb affected by the devastating earthquakes on March 22, 2020, and subsequent aftershocks, and calls for solidarity with all those affected by the natural disaster in the Republic of Croatia;

2. Sends a message of encouragement and readiness to cooperate with the competent state institutions and officials in the Republic of Croatia in the persistent fight against natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic."
