Haradinaj: Belgrade is an obstacle to Trepča's registration, but it's a matter of days

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said today that "Belgrade is becoming an obstacle" to the registration of Trepča's assets as a public enterprise, although, as he states, the law on Trepča was adopted in Pristina almost three years ago, writes Kosova pres, Patria reports.

The statute, according to Haradinaj, was adopted a few months ago. 

The Prime Minister of Kosovo also claims that the registration of Trepča is a matter of days, and he calls on miners from the Serb community not to "fall victim to Belgrade officials".

According to Kosova pres, the authorities from Pristina have reserved three seats for Serbs on the board of Trepča, but the managers of this giant in Mitrovica "refuse to cooperate with the Trepča board".

Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Luka said that due to the importance of Trepča in North Mitrovica, "the inclusion of the Serb minority in the Trepča board is foreseen".

According to Kosova pres, the President of the Trepča Board, Ardijan Sila, did not respond to questions about the problems surrounding Trepča's registration.

The Kosovo Ministry of Economic Development announced on February 26 that the Trepča combine would be registered by the end of that month. The Serbian government has annulled and declared void the law on Trepča adopted in Pristina in 2016.

The head of the Serbian Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, stated earlier today that the Kosovo authorities are unable to successfully operate the Trepča combine, which is under their control and is unprofitable, but that they want to bring the economically successful and profitable Trepča North combine under their control, which feeds 2,400 families and represents the backbone of the economic survival of Serbs in Kosovo.
