Hadžibajrić Welcomes Participants of Cycling Marathon from Serbia

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Participants of the 16th tandem cycling marathon Kragujevac - Užice - Višegrad - Sarajevo - Mostar 2019 were welcomed today in Stari Grad. For years, Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and his associates have been welcoming the marathon participants.

Refreshments and accommodation for the night have been provided for them, where they will rest for the final leg of this demanding marathon to Mostar.

“I wish you a warm welcome to Sarajevo and I hope you will feel at home. I also wish you a problem-free continuation of your journey and that you successfully complete the marathon,” said Hadžibajrić.

The cycling marathon started from Kragujevac on July 24, and their final destination is Mostar, where they plan to arrive in two days to attend the traditional jumps from the Old Bridge.
Sharing his impressions from the journey from Kragujevac to Sarajevo, Marko Pavlović, a cyclist and diver from the Paralympic Academy “Junior,” said that they are riding this marathon with their hearts and that nothing is difficult for them.

“We are arriving with a great group of responsible, educated, and successful people. Thank you very much because you always welcome us warmly and help us,” he said.

On that occasion, he presented Hadžibajrić with appropriate gifts and a plaque as a sign of gratitude for the support and cooperation.

The tandem cycling marathon “Kragujevac - Mostar 2019“ started on July 24 in front of the Center for Sport and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities “Iskra.“ Four stages of the route, with three tandems and 20 cyclists accompanied by a professional team, will cover over 400 kilometers. The sixteenth tandem marathon is being ridden by cyclists from Jagodina, Leskovac, Čačak, Kraljevo, and Italy.

The sponsors of the event, as in previous years, are the cities of Kragujevac and Mostar, as well as the cities and municipalities through which the cyclists pass - Užice, Višegrad, and the Municipality of Stari Grad.
