Civic Vojvodina: Serbia is a safe haven for war criminals and their sympathizers

(Patria) - The coalition of non-governmental organizations Civic Vojvodina assessed today that the regime of Aleksandar Vučić, "along with widespread nationalism in society, has turned Serbia into a safe haven for war criminals and their sympathizers".

"We remind the public that the radical Aleksandar Vučić spoke in the Serbian Parliament in 2007 about how the parliament is 'a safe haven for Ratko Mladić'. Obviously, Vučić has not moved an inch in his criminal mind," Civic Vojvodina assessed in a press release, reports Beta Agency.

According to them, the latest example is the news that the "notorious Russian spy", the director of the BIA Aleksandar Vulin, who is under US sanctions due to suspicions of international drug and arms trafficking and close ties to Putin's regime, invited two female students who are facing prison in Sarajevo for celebrating war criminal Ratko Mladić, sentenced to life imprisonment, on the day of the commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, July 11, to continue their studies in Belgrade, at the expense of the state of Serbia, "meaning - the citizens of Serbia".

"After successful schooling in Serbia, at the Academy for National Security in Belgrade, where Vulin will enroll them, Valentina Vujićić and Slađana Todić will, it is not difficult to imagine, become young and promising hopes of the 'Serbian world', an ideology known for producing mass graves. Why not, perhaps in some ministerial positions or as successors to Vulin himself in the BIA," Civic Vojvodina assessed.

They added that "only the naive, uninformed, and malicious can be surprised by such moves of Vučić's monstrous regime".

"Therefore, we ask the opposition parties participating in the organization of the 'Serbia Against Violence' protests whether they will add to the list of demands the demand that Serbia stop protecting war criminals and their sympathizers," Civic Vojvodina stated.

They asked whether Serbian society will "finally speak out loud about the notorious truth that violence, massacres, femicides, everyday and ubiquitous aggression... are only a logical consequence of the violence that was exported in our name to our neighbors during the nineties of the 20th century, from Vukovar, through Dubrovnik, Prijedor, Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Đakovica..."

"Or will the mass silence continue about how a large number of this country's inhabitants, with their consent, are being made moral idiots incapable of distinguishing elementary good from primordial evil. The girls coming from Sarajevo to Belgrade are precisely victims of the policy of denying crimes and glorifying war criminals. We must not allow the malignant nationalist policy that shapes young people in this way to continue to spread," the statement reads.
