Citizens in Belgrade demand return of N1 television to 300,000 households

(Patria) - Professor Čedomir Čupić stated that citizens gathered for a protest at Nikola Pašić Square in Belgrade because they do not want to allow their access to N1 television to be denied.

"This is yet another drastic and brutal attempt to blindfold us and plug our ears to truthful, accurate and objective information," said Čupić.

In his opinion, the protesting citizens have two main demands - a boycott of the elections and the return of N1 television to 300,000 households.

"In the name of the public interest, Telekom, which is largely state-owned, should execute the order concerning the right of all citizens to be truthfully and accurately informed, and enable media that perform their work in a highly professional manner to be present in the media space of Serbia," he says.

Čupić adds that there is no commercial interest that can be above the general interest.

Čupić says that in the media darkness, TV N1 is "just one candle for which those who want to see and hear something that belongs to truth, accuracy and objectivity are fighting."

"And now they want to extinguish even that flame and reduce it to an almost unrecognizable point of light. We came out here to preserve that flame and through it tomorrow bring light into the dark media state of Serbia," said Čupić.

He added that he is surprised by the reaction of European officials, that is, as he said, by the restrained and mild warning to Aleksandar Vučić and the executive authorities.
