The BiH Employment Agency mediated the employment of 148 people in Slovenia and Germany in September. There were slightly more interested in working in Germany, 90 BiH citizens, and in Slovenia, 58 people, writes the BiH news agency Patria.
The trend of mass departures from BiH is still devastating, especially among young and educated staff. In the last three months alone, 1,124 people have gone to work in Germany and Slovenia. No one knows the exact number of those leaving BiH and finding their way in other countries.
Member of Parliament Senad Šepić constantly warns about this fact, saying that his initiative to discuss this issue in the BiH Parliament has never been adopted.
International officials share this view, but the authorities remain silent. Thus, the German Ambassador to BiH Christiane Hohmann warned about this worrying trend today, stating that the outflow of BiH citizens and the most active population - young people - must be stopped.
The wave of emigration of BiH citizens will soon be comparable to that during the aggression against BiH. According to some projections, another 100,000 citizens could leave BiH next year. Political analyst Almir Terzić states that young people are leaving, people who have jobs, which is chaotic.
Although both Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and the Chairman of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović tirelessly repeat the story that 25,000 people have been employed in the real sector in 17 months and that unemployment is decreasing, neither of them mentions how many people are leaving BiH at the same time, thus reducing the number of unemployed in that way.
Official statistics do not support the claims of Izetbegović and Novalić, as according to data from the BiH Employment Agency, at the end of August, there were 520,565 people on the records of employment bureaus and services. Compared to July, there was an increase of 500 unemployed people.
According to the Agency's records, unemployment increased by 1,748 people in the Federation of BiH in August, while it decreased by 1,146 people in Republika Srpska and by 102 people in Brčko District of BiH. In August, a total of 17,062 people were removed from the employment service records. Of this number, 10,698 people were employed. The question arises what is the difference between the number of employed and the number removed from the records.
At the same time, employment ended for 9,436 people, while employers in this period reported the need to employ 6,746 new workers, which shows a disproportion between the number of unemployed and new employment.
