Pristina citizens celebrate Self-Determination's victory

(Patria) - Votes from the Kosovo elections are still being counted, but it is already clear that Self-Determination is the electoral winner.

Self-Determination, based on 69.40 percent of the votes counted, leads with 48.21 percent of the votes won, followed by PDK with 17.69 and the Democratic League of Kosovo with 13.49 percent.

After 50 percent of the votes counted, Self-Determination won 48 percent.

Citizens have started taking to the streets of Pristina to celebrate the victory, but Self-Determination is calling on citizens not to go out. The Central Election Commission of Kosovo announced that after 30 percent of polling stations, Albin Kurti's Self-Determination Movement is in first place with 46.50 percent of the votes won.

Albulena Haxhiu from Self-Determination called on the party's supporters to stay home due to the coronavirus pandemic and also due to the cold weather.

"We are waiting for the official results from the Central Election Commission," Haxhiu stated.

The president of the Serb List, Goran Rakić, stated at a press conference that the list, according to preliminary results, won all ten seats in the Kosovo Assembly reserved for the Serb community.

"This is a victory for Serbian unity, Serbian harmony, this is proof that we want to remain in our own land," said Rakić.

Based on 45 percent of processed votes by around 10 PM, the Serb List received almost 13,000 votes, it was said at a press conference in North Mitrovica.

Rakić stated that 99 percent of Kosovo citizens from the Serb community voted for the Serb List. He also stated that according to the results so far, the Serb List won five percent more votes than in the last parliamentary elections in 2019.

Haradinaj: Self-Determination will be the electoral winner

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, concluded at a press conference that the Self-Determination Movement will be the winner of the Kosovo elections.

"The voting trend leads to Self-Determination. The victory of Self-Determination in these elections is confirmed," he said.

Regarding his party, Haradinaj said they won about 10 percent of the votes.

"We said we have no red lines, neither for Self-Determination nor for any political entity," he said.

Haradinaj, who ran for the President of Kosovo in these elections on behalf of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, said that the election of a new president requires the will of the political forces in Kosovo to secure two-thirds of the votes in the Kosovo Assembly.

The current President of Kosovo is Vjosa Osmani, who was on the Self-Determination list in the parliamentary elections.
