City of Sarajevo, along with the Canton and Federation, to send aid to Skopje

As a sign of sympathy, solidarity, and support for the partner city of Skopje, the City of Sarajevo has launched an initiative to send aid to help repair the consequences of the catastrophic floods that recently struck Macedonia. Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, in cooperation with the Prime Ministers of the Government of the Federation of BiH and the Canton of Sarajevo, Fadil Novalić and Elmedin Konaković, agreed on aid. On this occasion, the City Administration held meetings with the competent institutions of the Federation of BiH and the Canton of Sarajevo to arrange the sending of aid, primarily technical support for cleaning streets and households, high-pressure pumps for pumping sludge, and fire trucks, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

It is expected that all necessary procedures will be completed as soon as possible so that this aid can be sent to Skopje quickly. Sarajevo and Skopje are connected by traditional friendly, partner ties, formalized by a Cooperation Agreement signed in 2007.

- The City of Sarajevo does not forget the help that the City of Skopje once sent us during the floods in May 2014, when it sent a six-member team of firefighters with a vehicle and necessary equipment - said Skaka, who, on behalf of the officials and citizens of Sarajevo, conveyed sincere and deep condolences to Mayor Koce Trajanovski and the citizens of Skopje.

- The City of Sarajevo shares the sincere grief and pain with the families of those affected by the catastrophic floods that struck Skopje and other cities in Macedonia after unprecedented stormy weather. Our thoughts are with the citizens of Skopje and the people of Macedonia - said Deputy Mayor Skaka.
