Grabar-Kitarović: I extend my hand to Milanović

ZAGREB, (Patria) - HDZ candidate Kolinda Grabar Kitarović on Sunday evening after the announcement of results showing she lost to Zoran Milanović in the election race, stated that she extends her hand to Zoran Milanović and expects a civilized transfer of power.

"Croatia has decided, Zoran Milanović will be president and I congratulate him on that," said Grabar Kitarović, who stopped whistling at Milanović in her headquarters just as he did during his address in his headquarters. 

She said she is ready to brief him on everything she has done and proposed that they meet even before the official transfer of power, stating that what Croatia needs is stability.

"For me, the campaign ended on Friday, I will not say another word against my predecessors or successors," she emphasized.

She also stated that the lesson of these elections is that one must be more among the citizens and listen to their voice, thanking everyone in the homeland and abroad who went to the polls and showed they care about Croatia.

She thanked her family for their support, the leadership of HDZ led by Andrej Plenković, party members, supporters, and other parties and independent individuals who supported her.

Summarizing the past five years of her presidential term, she emphasized that she focused on Croatian national, state, and religious values, on the Homeland War as the foundation of modern Croatia, on veterans, their families, and fallen and missing veterans and civilians.
