Grabar-Kitarović wrote to Reis Kavazović: Bosniak and Croatian people labeled and persecuted

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović wrote in a recent letter to the Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazović, that she never spoke against Muslims, Bosniaks, and BiH, but only emphasized political phenomena and processes that cause unease and concern, regardless of where they occur.

The MINA agency reported on Tuesday that the president responded to Kavazović "who recently asked her to clarify her statements that Bosniaks are a terrorist threat to neighboring countries and Europe.".

"In the letter, the president thanks him for the letter, for his understanding and sincere words, but still stands by her stated positions," MINA announced.

HINA reported that Grabar-Kitarović wrote in her letter to Reis Kavazović that she did not direct any of her words against Muslims, nor against Bosniaks, nor against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed regret that an unargumented campaign has been waged against her for months in part of the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as she stated.

The Croatian president also stated in the letter that the Bosniak people, like the Croatian people, were labeled and persecuted throughout history, imprisoned in camps, and killed.

"Motivated by the desire that this never happens to anyone again, and also with the obligation to protect the state and national interests of the Republic of Croatia and all its citizens, regardless of religion and nationality, it is my duty to warn about all political – not religious, but political phenomena and processes that cause unease and concern, regardless of where they occur, but especially if it is about this part of Europe of ours," the letter states.

Kavazović's letter to Grabar-Kitarović followed claims from the Croatian president's office that there are thousands of radicalized individuals in BiH who pose a potential security threat in the context of terrorism, reports NAP.
