Grabar-Kitarović: Thousands of ISIL fighters are returning to BiH, I want complete security of Croatia's borders

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović stated today in Dubrovnik that the fact that thousands of fighters are returning to BiH from the so-called Islamic State must be faced, and the "influence of some other countries" on BiH cannot be ignored, and she emphasized that Croatia wants a whole and politically independent BiH, with three equal constituent peoples, writes Patria.

She said this after the Minister of Security of BiH, Dragan Mektić, stated today that the claims about the growing danger of radical Islamism in BiH, as reported by "Večernji list" on Monday, citing the State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH (SIPA), are "false and unfounded." Mektić said that the SIPA report was fabricated and called on the director of SOA to make a public statement.

The Croatian President further said that one must look the truth in the eye and face the coming trends, including returnees from the so-called Islamic State, from the conflicts in Iraq and Syria.

- I want BiH to remain whole, we fully support the sovereignty and political independence of BiH. I want it to become a member of NATO and the European Union as soon as possible. My wish for all citizens of BiH, members of all three constituent peoples whose constitutive equality I represent, is that they live in peace, prosperity, and that nothing similar to what happened in the 90s ever happens again, and that they move towards a better life in which every individual is respected regardless of their affiliation - said Grabar-Kitarović.

She emphasized that she wants absolute security along the borders of the Republic of Croatia.

- The Republic of Croatia shares 1,001 kilometers of border with BiH. The Croatian people are one of the three constituent peoples in BiH, and we have an obligation as one of the co-signatories of the Dayton Agreement - said Grabar-Kitarović.
